Training and Experience for Mediators PDF Print
Court approved mediators must meet certain minimum standards for training and experience. They must have participated in an approved 40 hour domestic relations mediation training program. They must have a minimum of 4 hours training in domestic violence. They must have participated in at least three mediations prior to obtaining court approval, including two where they observe another court-approved mediator, and one where another court-approved mediator observes them. They must have at least 8 hours of advanced training in mediation skills every two years.
